Epic continues its giveaway streak this week by putting on offer Alan Wake and For Honor to claim for free, taking the place of Moonlighter and This War of Mine.
Remedy Entertainment, most famously known for the critically acclaimed Max Payne and Max Payne 2, announced Alan Wake at E3 in 2005. It eventually released in 2010 exclusively for the Xbox 360, followed by a PC release in 2012. An atmospheric story-heavy adventure game, it is uniquely presented in the style of a TV show. Here's how the Epic Games Store describes the title:
When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.
With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.
For Honor is a melee fighting game with a medieval setting and a tinge of fantasy. Another one of Ubisoft's Games-as-a-Service titles, it continues to receive regular content updates every few months. Epic is giving away the Standard edition of the game, which means that it comes with all standard heroes unlocked. Here's how it is described on the Epic Games Store:
Enter the chaos of war as a bold Knight, brutal Viking, deadly Samurai or swift Wu Lin, a legendary Faction consisting of four of the greatest warriors. In For Honor, wield your blade like never before with the innovative Art of Battle combat system that puts you in total control of your warrior. Master your sword and fight in brutal, fast-paced melee combat across an engaging story campaign and groundbreaking multiplayer modes.
Carve a path of destruction through an intense and believable battlefield in For Honor, a groundbreaking melee action game.
Epic Games Store is offering both titles at no cost for players on Windows. Here are the minimum requirements for the games:
