Research in Motion is still trying to get people to purchase its Blackberry Playbook tablets. The company's latest scheme is interesting; the RIM web site store now has a sale on all versions of its Playbooks. From now until February 4, you can get any version you want for $299. Yep, that means the price is the same if you buy the 16 GB version, the 32 GB version or even the big 64 GB version.
This is an interesting strategy but it's just the most recent way that RIM has tried to sell off the Playbook. In November, the company said that the 16 GB version would be on sale for a "limited time" for just $199. The holiday sale was apparently good enough that Best Buy actually managed to sell out of the tablets, at least for a while.
Selling all of the versions of the Playbook, regardless of its storage size, for $299 may mean that RIM might be trying to get rid of some of the inventory for the higher end versions of the tablet. In any case, a tablet with 64 GB of storage for just $299 is a pretty good deal and some people will likely jump on it.
