Amazon has begun selling the Asus ZenFone AR starting at $599. This is a notable device because it's only the second phone available that supports Google's Tango augmented reality platform. The device is unlocked so you'll have some flexibility about which carrier you want to use with the phone if you buy it.
The Asus ZenFone AR comes in two variants; the first is $599, and it includes:
- 5.7-inch unlocked Dual SIM cell phone with super AMOLED display, 2560x1440 WQHD resolution
- TriCam System with 23MP rear camera, 4K video recording and 8MP front camera
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, 6GB onboard memory and 64GB storage with microSD card slow (expandable up to 2TB)
- 3300 mAh non-removable battery with QuickCharge 3.0
- Compatible with Google Tango and Google Daydream
The other version will set you back $699, it includes:
- 5.7-inch unlocked Dual SIM cell phone with super AMOLED display, 2560x1440 WQHD resolution
- TriCam System with 23MP rear camera, 4K video recording and 8MP front camera
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, 8GB onboard memory and 128GB storage with microSD card slow (expandable up to 2TB)
- 3300 mAh non-removable battery with QuickCharge 3.0
- Compatible with Google Tango and Google Daydream
While the cheaper variant will ship right away, the more expensive version will take between two and four weeks before buyers can get their hands on the phone, although it can be ordered now. As the device supports GSM networks, it'll work on AT&T, T-Mobile and MVNOs that run on those companies' networks. CDMA networks aren't supported.
