Amazon will gain access to a new array of Apple products and will begin selling them on its website, as a new deal has been reached between both companies.
Amazon will begin carrying some of Apple's latest products like the iPad Pro, iPhone Xs, and more, in the coming weeks. But the products won't be available globally, only to those located in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and India
An Amazon spokesperson stated:
"Amazon is constantly working to enhance the customer experience, and one of the ways we do this is by increasing selection of the products we know customers want. We look forward to expanding our assortment of Apple and Beats products globally."
Prior to the deal, many Apple products were only available from third-party sellers. Now, since the retailer will be partnering with Apple directly, it means that there will be tighter regulations on who can sell its products on the retailer's website. Sellers who previously sold Apple products on Amazon will have to be an authorized reseller. If they are not, they must apply with Apple in order to continue business on Amazon. Those that do not comply, will have their products removed from Amazon starting on January 4, 2019.
With the holiday shopping season almost upon us, this could be a big win for both companies, but will most likely be a huge loss for unauthorized third party resellers on the platform.
