AMD Follows Intel Down the Tubes

Thanks DreadMen who posted this in our Back Page News section of the forums. Like rival processor maker Intel, AMD has announced a large loss this quarter, citing the ongoing processor wars and the poor economy as the reason they lost nearly $200 million.

AMD doesn't expect their revenues to turn around any time soon, and it looks like they might end up with a loss for the year. This is a blow to them, as last year they finally reached profitability for the first time.

"Operationally, we are doing great," said the company's CEO. "Yields are great. Costs are under control. ASPs (average selling prices) are ugly."
