Tomorrow we have another graphics card launch to add to the list of GPUs that you probably won't be able to get. AMD's flagship consumer desktop GPU this gen, the Radeon RX 6900 XT is set to release to retail tomorrow, and we already have a retailer throwing in the towel.
Digitec, one of the largest Swiss hardware retailers had published a blog a few days back stating that the shop will be getting very few RX 6900 XT units, just 35 to be precise, and yes you did read that number right. The retailer has decided to adopt a lottery system and only the lucky few who win will be able to purchase the cards. Here's what Yannick Cejka, Junior Category Marketing Manager, of Digitec writes:
On December 8th at exactly 3 p.m. the specially-designed limited edition AMD Radeon 6900 XT graphics cards will be released. We'll only receive a small number of cards and have therefore organised a small lottery to choose who gets to buy them.
While we don't have exact numbers for 6900 XT stocks at other retailers yet, it's probably fair to assume that the story won't be too different elsewhere. Of course, this was to be expected given how elusive the RX 6800 and 6800 XT have been so far, and the 6900 XT with the full Navi 21 die and probably better bin too, given that both 6800 XT and 6900 XT have the same TDP despite the latter having eight extra CUs, will likely be even harder to find.
