In October, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi MIX, a 'concept' device with a striking design featuring ultra-thin bezels, and a 6.4-inch display that extends into the curved corners of the handset. The device went on sale in limited numbers, and it took just ten seconds to completely sell out of its launch stock, although more stock has since been made available.
The Mi MIX launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow onboard, but Xiaomi is preparing for the rollout of its next major update.
In what appears to be a semi-official 'leak' on its forums, a post revealed that the Mi MIX will be the second Xiaomi handset to be upgraded to Nougat. The company released an Android 7.0 preview for its Mi 5 smartphone earlier this month.
According to the post, Xiaomi is also planning to release a beta of its Nougat update for the Mi MIX, and an announcement is expected "quite soon". However, the company will first need to complete its internal alpha-stage testing of the update before any public previews are released.
Xiaomi hasn't always had the best record when it comes to delivering OS updates to its devices. It took the company over a year to roll out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the Redmi Note 3.
