Samsung originally intended to begin upgrading its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge to Android 7.0 by the end of February, but the company delayed its planned rollout of the update to "review its quality". It's been almost seven months since Google originally released the Nougat update - but it seems that the long wait for owners of those devices is now coming to an end.
Samsung hasn't yet made an official announcement, but there are widespread reports from Galaxy S6 and S6 edge owners who say that their handsets have finally been upgraded to Nougat.
Several SamMobile readers said that they had received Android 7.0 on their Galaxy S6 edge handsets, including one who reported that their Vodafone model had been upgraded in the United Kingdom, bringing its firmware version up to G925FXXU5EQBG.
The Android Soul has independently verified that the rollout has begun for the S6 edge, and for the Galaxy S6 too, which gets firmware version G920FXXU5EQBG. The update for both handsets is around 1.4GB in size, and in addition to the UK, reports of Nougat arriving on the two devices have also popped up in Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.
This is just the beginning of the rollout, of course, and it will likely take several weeks before all Galaxy S6 and S6 edge handsets across the globe are upgraded to Android 7.0.
