Angry Birds is one of the most successful mobile gaming series ever and includes the top-selling paid mobile app ever. Next year, its developer, Rovio, will attempt to cash in even further on the franchise, when it releases a movie based upon the games - and given how much rides on the film's success, the company will no doubt be milking it dry.
Rovio has today announced a partnership with The Lego Group, under which various Angry Birds-themed Lego toys and sets will be sold. Lego Angry Birds products will launch in spring 2016 "to coincide with the release" of The Angry Birds Movie.
However, neither Lego nor Rovio have yet revealed any specific details about the new products in the collection.
Rovio is often regarded as something of a one-hit wonder, with much of its business relying heavily on the Angry Birds series. But with these games falling out of favor among many mobile gamers, the firm's profits fell by 73% last year, so Rovio certainly needs the new movie to be a hit.
