If you're a fan of Nintendo's Animal Crossing franchise, you've been waiting quite some time for the latest release of a game in the main series. The last release was Animal Crossing: New Leaf in 2012, unless you were interested in the 2017 mobile title, Pocket Camp.
Last year, Nintendo finally announced a new entry to the main series of games, promising it would come out in 2019, but it turns out that won't be the case. Today, during its Direct presentation at E3, the firm revealed that the game, now with the final name of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, will arrive on the hybrid console on March 20, 2020.
On the bright side, the company did share the first gameplay footage of the title, and it falls in line with you've come to expect from the franchise. Your character goes to a deserted island, and it's tasked with the job of using whatever it has at hand to bring in more and more inhabitants. Crafting items, building houses, decorating the environments, and more, are all part of the game.
Nintendo says it had to delay the game to make sure it's the best it can be, and that shouldn't be too surprising, seeing as no other news had been shared for a couple of months. Nonetheless, Animal Crossing fans now have a new date to look forward to.
