Ubisoft brought a new entry to its long running city building series Anno earlier this month, and it has already broken records set by earlier games in the series. The company announced today that Anno 1800 is now the fastest selling game in the series, beating out the launch numbers of Anno 2205 by four times the amount.
Alongside Uplay, the game was originally headed for Steam as well, but had a last minute switch to the Epic Games Store, with the game being removed from the store on launch day. However, since all Steam pre-orders were honored, the player numbers on the Valve platform were still immense, reaching over 25,000 at peak.
Ubisoft didn't share any specific numbers when it comes to sales so we don't know what platforms did the game have the most impact on.
"Anno 1800 has been an incredible journey for all the people working at Ubisoft Blue Byte and we are so happy to see that players really enjoy playing our game," said Ubisoft Blue Byte managing director Benedikt Grindel." After this amazing and successful launch, we now completely focus on delivering the best post-launch content possible for Anno 1800 and can’t wait to show you more!”
Ubisoft did have some stats to show off regarding in-game efforts by players. Since Anno 1800's launch, players have settled on over three million islands, with the total number of citizens reaching seven billion. Over a billion grain fields have also been built, alongside over 10 million ships.
Anno 1800 is available for purchase via the Ubisoft Store for Uplay and the Epic Games Store with a $59.99 price tag.
