Apple recently took a hard line with cryptocurrency after updating its App Store guidelines to ban crypto mining ads on its platform. However, the tech giant is giving a pass at least to two dedicated Bitcoin glyphs which have now been added as part of the iOS 12 update.
The Bitcoin glyphs are part of Apple’s new Shortcuts app designed to let Siri fulfill a wide variety of tasks with voice commands. In order to access the Bitcoin glyphs, you need to set up Siri first.
It should be pointed out, though, that glyphs can't be used as emoji in chats. Nonetheless, you can change the color of each of the glyphs.
Despite the addition of the Bitcoin glyphs to iOS 12, Apple remains steadfast with its ban on cryptocurrency mining on the platform, as do other tech giants like Facebook and the Google. The social networking giant banned ads for cryptocurrencies, ICOs, and binary options earlier this year while Google blocked crypto mining apps and more restricted content from the Play Store in July.
