Today, Apple is introducing a new feature for Fitness+ subscribers called Time to Walk. The feature is pretty simple. When you go take a walk, you can play inspiring stories from celebrities like Dolly Parton, Draymond Green, Uzo Aduba, and Shawn Mendes.
The recordings include "lessons learned, meaningful memories, thoughts on purpose and gratitude, moments of levity, and other thought-provoking topics", and they're recorded in places that are somehow meaningful to the speaker. They also include visuals that will appear on your Apple Watch, and there will also be a music playlist included at the end.
"Walking is the most popular physical activity in the world, and one of the healthiest things we can do for our bodies. A walk can often be more than just exercise: It can help clear the mind, solve a problem, or welcome a new perspective," said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies. "Even throughout this challenging period of time, one activity that has remained available to many is walking. With Time to Walk, we’re bringing weekly original content to Apple Watch in Fitness+ that includes some of the most diverse, fascinating, and celebrated guests offering inspiration and entertainment to help our users keep moving through the power of walking."
Right now, there are just four Time to Walk stories available, and they're from the speakers stated above. Apple says that there will be a new one every Monday, but only running through the end of April. That means there will be 13 more recordings on top of the four that are available at launch. Presumably, after that, there will still be new recordings released, but not on a set schedule. Of course, the limited amount of episodes might have to do with the fact that they're automatically downloaded to your Apple Watch.
