Apple's Beats by Dre brand introduced the new Powerbeats earlier this year, touting up to 15 hours of battery life, sweat and water resistance, and more in a semi-wireless form factor. Today, the company has announced a new color variant, which is the result of a partnership with Japanese jewelry brand AMBUSH.
The new color option is similar to mint green, but what's most notable about it isn't the color per se. The AMBUSH Special Edition Powerbeats glow in the dark, particularly the earbuds themselves and the cable, while the wingtips appear to be more subdued. Yoon Ahn, co-founder of AMBUSH, said the idea of glow-in-the-dark headphones derived from the environment of Shibuya, a special ward in Tokyo, Japan, known for its bustling commercial life and bright lights.
The color is really all that's new in this version, and the specs are otherwise the same. In addition to the 15-hour battery life, the Powerbeats also support Apple's H1 chip, which means they support voice activation for Siri, as well as quick pairing when used with an iPhone.
While there isn't much new aside from the color, the new model of the Powerbeats is still $50 more expensive than the other variants. It will cost $199.95 and be available tomorrow. You should be able to find it here when it's available.
