After months of leaks, it appears that a source has finally received confirmation from wireless carriers that Apple will hold an event on September 12 to announce its upcoming iPhone. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean anything at this point, as things can always change and the information could be false. But, if the intel is to be believed, that means that in three weeks, we will finally get all of the official details of the much-reported handsets.
For the past few months, we have seen device renders, case renders, images of parts, dummy models, and more when it comes to the iPhone. This year will be a bit more exciting than most, as the firm is expected to announce three versions of the smartphone. The one that is receiving the most attention is the purported iPhone 8, a special high-end version that will feature a new design and near bezel-less OLED display. Along with the new iPhone, Apple could also release a new version of the Apple Watch with LTE connectivity.
Luckily, we won't have to wait long to confirm the event date, as press invitations should be going out in a few days according to the source.
