Apple is offering an extension to its service coverage period for first-generation Apple Watch models affected by swollen or expanded batteries.
The company typically provides a single year of repairs under its standard one-year Limited Warranty, but it also has a service program for devices experiencing battery expansion issues, which extends that support by a further year. As 9to5Mac reports, Apple is now offering an additional year of repair coverage on top of that, providing a total of three years of support for affected Watches.
Not all first-gen Apple Watches have been affected by such issues, but many reports from owners have been documented on Apple's support forums, on Reddit, and elsewhere.
Last week, Apple introduced a new Watch model under its partnership with Nike. The new Apple Watch NikeLab is technically identical to other second-generation Watch models, but features a new strap design.
