In apparent response to the great interest shown towards the recently released 4 GB Product Red iPod Nano, Apple today has released an 8 GB version for $249. The Product Red program, which Apple adopted several weeks ago with U2's Bono and Oprah introducing and announcing Apple's affiliation with the 4 GB nano, was designed so that every sale of a Product Red product will donate a certain precentage towards AIDS prevention and research. Rumor has it that Apple could be planning on releasing a Red version of its consumer portable, the MacBook.
Apple has, unsurprisingly, yet to respond to those rumors. The new 8 GB Nano ships today at a price of $249 USD.
