It has been reported that Apple's shares have risen a sharp 9% since the announcement of the new iPod, which is able to play video. Whilst the unveiling of the video iPod was expected by analysts, they were surprised by the deal with Walt Disney Co. and ABC which will see shows such as "Lost" available to download just a day after they are aired on television.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the sale of digital television and other content was the future, whilst analysts think that the new iPod could further spur sales for Apple, who already control 75% of the digital music player market. In exactly a year Apple shares have gained 60% and are the 14th biggest gainer Standard & Poor's 500 index.
