Apple has partnered with on-demand delivery company Postmates to offer same-day delivery - in "four hours or less," according to the site - for most of the products on its online and app store.
The service will be offered in areas where Postmates operates, meaning the service will initially be limited to a few areas, although Postmates will likely expand their courier service in the future. The company currently operates in 71 areas and 16 states (including the District of Columbia), including their headquarters of San Francisco, as well as the cities of Denver, Portland, Austin, Chicago, and Miami, among others.
However, Apple has limited the service mostly to the Bay Area at this time, meaning anyone who lives outside of the San Jose/San Francisco metropolitan areas will likely be unable to take advantage of four-hour shipping, although this may be likely to change soon.
This four-hour delivery service comes at a cost, as well: the same-day charge is $19, so using the service may be useful for those who want their items immediately, but more frugal Apple buyers may instead opt for standard delivery.
