As the year winds down, a majority of companies have released their products to market and are already preparing for 2017. In a surprise move, Apple has unveiled one final product for the year, 'Designed by Apple in California'.
Designed by Apple in California is a bit removed from the company's traditional products. As you can see on the right, the item is a hardbound book that was painstakingly "developed over an eight-year period". In true Apple fashion, the company shares the creation process by highlighting that it is "printed on specially milled, custom-dyed paper with gilded matte silver edges, using eight color separations and low-ghost ink." The picture book is a celebration of Apple's products over the past 20 years and is an homage to the company's designs and innovation. The book contains 450 photos that include forgotten relics like the 1998 iMac and more modern items like the Apple Pencil and Apple Watch.
The book will come in two sizes - the small which measures in at 10.20” x 12.75” will be priced at $199, while the larger book priced at $299 measures in at 13” x 16.25”. The book will be available tomorrow through Apple's website and will also be available at select retail locations around the world.
