AppleCare+ subscribers will now be able to get a replacement for their iOS device's battery when its charge retention drops to 80 percent.
After sales service is a serious business and many companies have been offering free replacements for components as part of promotions in recent times. Apple has also been replacing certain components for AppleCare+ subscribers even after the standard warranty period of the devices expires. Now, the company has updated the terms of service for the warranty plan to include battery replacements even if the battery loses just 20 percent of health in case of iOS devices and 50 percent for OS X devices.
The new policy will cover any Apple device that runs on a battery, which should come as a good news for those using larger devices such as the MacBook Pro or the iPad which are fitted with more expensive batteries. Any device purchased from April 10th of this year will be entitled to the replacement. In cases where the battery is found to be defective, Apple will try to repair the fault and only replace if necessary.
Although, it is unlikely that a device's battery health would drop drastically within the AppleCare+ period, long term users should feel comfortable about having the option to get it replaced if it does.
