The MMORPG Asheron's Call 2 will be permanently shut down on December 30th, says developer and publisher Turbine Entertainment, citing a lack of profitability. With the annoucement, the original Asheron's Call will outlive its intended successor for the foreseeable future. The AC2 community's backlash from the announcement has been understandably harsh, with many players swearing off all current and future Turbine products in disgust over the closing. Turbine was quick to ensure to all players of the original Asheron's Call that the it had no plans to drop support for it as well.
