Ubisoft today announced that Assassin's Creed Valhalla has seen an immensely successful launch, managing to break a couple of its sales records over its launch week.
Being a multi-generation console title, Valhalla arrived on quite a number of platforms, and according to Ubisoft, it now holds the title for being the most sold Assassin's Creed game in its first week. The launch day player base also saw a massive boost over the previous entry, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, with over double the number of assassins jumping into the Viking world.
"We are truly delighted by the enthusiastic response from players and want to thank the fans for their incredible support. Delivering this game amid a global pandemic was a true tour de force by our teams and it’s fantastic to see players enjoying the game so much," said Valhalla producer Julien Laferrière. "Launch is only the beginning and we have robust content plans for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that will keep players immersed in their epic Viking saga for a long time to come."
That's not all, as over on the PC side the game has become Ubisoft's best launch ever on the platform across all its numerous franchises. The company didn't share any numbers today, but it said the massive PC success was "driven by all-time record Ubisoft Store sales performance." Much like other Ubisoft PC releases since 2019, Valhalla skipped a Steam launch and is only available on PC via the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store.
The developer also shared some stats on how players are progressing through its new game, with over 4 million kilometers being traversed, 55 million buildings unlocked, 3.5 million rounds of the dice game Orlog being played, and 1.8 million drinking games being won since the game's launch.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is now available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, as well as Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and the Ubisoft+ subscription.
