After quite a long stay in the early access regions of Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam, Astroneer will finally be launching in full, early next year. Although plans for a December 2018 release were revealed earlier, today's announcement pushes back the full 1.0 release by a few months to February 6, 2019.
The colorful planetary and space exploration game by System Era Softworks originally entered Steam's Early Access and Microsoft's Game Preview programs in 2016, and has since managed to gather over two million players.
Alongside the much-requested dedicated servers, the 1.0 release will bring along several new features as well, which were described in a press release as follows:
Liftoff will debut a new exploration-focused adventure that will take you to seven brand new planets while facing challenges like dangerous flora, treacherous terrain and immense, mysterious structures. Increased character customization options empower every astronaut to showcase their personality as they explore new narrative elements.
Those who are interested in picking the game up may want to do it soon, however, as System Era will be bumping up the price from $19.99 to $29.99 on November 16. Anyone who has purchased the game before that date will receive an exclusive Retro suit to wear in-game as an early access bonus.
Astroneer is available to purchase on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Windows 10, arriving with Xbox Play Anywhere and cross-play support. The Steam version can be found here, but note that owners of this version are not able to play with those on Microsoft platforms.
