ASUS' ROG Phone for gamers, which was unveiled in June of last year, will soon see its successor with an upgraded display refresh rate. The Taiwanese electronics company has confirmed via Weibo that the ROG Phone 2 will be rocking a display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a major leap from 90Hz in its first-generation gaming device.
A high screen refresh rate such as the one promised by ASUS will be especially useful for gaming as it can improve the overall experience. The only existing gaming phones that offer this capability are the Razer Phone 2 and its predecessor.
ASUS' teaser image did not reveal much more information about the upcoming gaming smartphone beyond the upgraded display. It has been confirmed, nevertheless, that ASUS and Tencent Games will collaborate on the upcoming device, which is rumored to debut as early as next month, as per CNET.
Key specs of the phone aren't confirmed as of this time, but as a gaming device, it is supposed to be powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC. We'll hear more details about the ROG Phone 2 in the near future.
