You may not find many RX 6000 series graphics cards to buy yet, but that doesn't stop board partners from making premium custom models.
Asus is unveiling the ROG Strix Radeon RX 6900 XT LC which is a liquid-cooled model, and is the first one in the market.
The graphics card is a 2.2 slot card that requires three 8-pin connectors for power. The card is equipped with solid polymer capacitors for power delivery. In addition to the 240mm radiator, the card also has a blower fan above the chip for direct cooling. The thermal-conductive plate covers the memory modules as well to ensure optimal cooling. Hence, overclocking is expected to be a breeze on this as there could be additional thermal headroom provided. It will be interesting to see how far enthusiasts would be able to push it if the 3GHz core clock limit can be bypassed. The card is also expected to run quieter than air-cooled variants.
The physical specifications of the ROG Strix 6900 XT are as follows:
Dimensions |
Card : 277mm x 131mm x 43.6mm Radiator: 276mm x 120mm x 51.7mm (including fan) |
---|---|
Display Interface | 1x HDMI 2.1 2x Display Port 1.4 1x USB-C |
Pricing on this card should be well over the $999 reference MSRP since its smaller sibling the RX 6800 XT Strix LC itself costs $900, which is a 38.5% premium over the $649 MSRP of the reference 6800 XT model. Still if you want all the bells and whistles and decide to snag one up, and of course - assuming you even manage to find one - do install the AMD Adrenalin 20.12.1 driver as it brings support for the RX 6900 XT GPU.
