It has been reported that ATI have signed a deal with Intel which will allow them to develop peripheral logic chipsets which will be used in computers which are powered by the Pentium-M.
The Pentium-M is part of the Centrino collection of hardware and software, which is aimed at computer terminals working on a wireless LAN. According to SiliconStrategies.com ATI are the first to be allowed to develop for the Pentuim-M, but the timescale which ATI will work on has not been mentioned, this is crucial as it will make a huge difference when you consider that the Intel 855 chipset is already available. It has been said since the launch of Centrino that Intel will want to recoup some of the development costs of the technology before licensing, so it comes as no surprise that they have chosen to wait until now before allowing ATI a chance.
