Last week, we reported that the $599.99 32 GB Asus VivoTab RT, running Microsoft's Windows RT OS, had already received a $50 price cut from some online retailers soon after its launch, plus a free keyboard-battery dock offer from Asus itself worth $200. Today, AT&T sweetened the deal by announcing it would sell the Asus VivoTab RT for just $499.99 starting on Friday, November 16th.
The press release said AT&T's version will also come with the free keyboard-battery dock, which basically makes the product an even better deal now than Microsoft's own Surface Windows RT tablet, which it is selling for the same price but without any keyboard. The dock increases the tablet's total battery life up to 15 hours.
AT&T said that customers who also purchase a new Windows Phone device at the same time as they get the Asus VivoTab RT will get another $100 off the tablet. The deal does require a two year data contract for the tablet as well as a two year voice and data contract for the smartphone.
AT&T has already started selling the Samsung ATIV Smart PC tablet, running on Windows 8. Its price is $799.99 but the price goes down to $699.99 if you sign up for a two year data contract.
