In January earlier this year, Bandai Namco announced that it was working on yet another game in the Dragon Ball Z universe, under the working title Dragon Ball Game – Project Z. Apart from dropping a trailer which did not reveal much information about the game, not much else was unveiled.
Today, at the Tokyo Game Show gaming event, Bandai Namco finally assigned a launch date and disclosed further details about the upcoming title. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be seeing the light of day on January 17, 2020, worldwide. A brand new launch trailer was also released at the show, offering a look at some of the game's storyline.
Long-term fans might be pleased to hear that the Buu arc from the Dragon Ball Z series will also be included in the game. Some of the playable characters in Dragon Ball Z: Karakot include Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and Piccolo. The official blurb for the title reads:
"Relive the story of Goku in DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT! Beyond the epic battles, experience life in the DRAGON BALL Z world as you fight, fish, eat, and train with Goku. Explore the new areas and adventures as you advance through the story and form powerful bonds with other heroes from the DRAGON BALL Z universe."
The action-RPG title will be available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. As an added treat, customers who pre-order the game will have access to special bonuses including a new sub-quest. Aside from the pre-order offer, the game is also available in Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate, and Collector’s Editions.
