Though Best Buy has been able to offer an in-store extended warranty service to its consumers for products, it is now able to offer both AppleCare and AppleCare+ warranty services from Apple beginning September 13th.
AppleCare warranty is eligible for coverage for Mac devices and accessories, while AppleCare+ warranty covers iOS devices, as well as the Apple Watch, which is now carried at Best Buy as previously reported. Customers who purchase Apple's warranty for their devices are eligible for service at either Best Buy directly, or through Apple itself. Alternatively, customers do have the option to purchase Geek Squad warranty services through Best Buy if they decide to instead opt out of AppleCare or AppleCare+.
A few notes to take into consideration, is that both warranties covers the accessories included in the box as well as additional Apple products purchased during the same transaction; those would include an AirPort Time Capsule or even an Apple Display. Additionally, AppleCare does not cover accidental damage on Mac devices and accessories whereas AppleCare+ for iOS and Apple Watch does.
The inclusion of Apple's warranty service at Best Buy may be helpful for customers as they consider purchasing their next-generation iPhone device, which is scheduled for release in September, perhaps alongside a new iPad thus allowing customers more choice in where they purchase their new Apple devices.
