Popular US store Best Buy has announced to it's staff today that it will be offering a games trade-in service for it's customers starting shortly after the holiday season. Certain stores targeted at more youthful customers will be participating in the games trade-in scheme. While details are a little unclear, as of yet, it's been said that Best Buy has worked out deals with publishers in which they will be able to guarantee the highest payouts per game.
In related news, Best Buy will also start selling an optional replacement plan on video games. The price tiered system will cost $2.99 for games $35 or less and $3.99 for more expensive discs. Through this system, any damaged game can be replaced via mail.
Best Buy already offers a trade-in service for home electronics products such as computers, home audio & video equipment, games consoles and car stereos. Under the existing technology trade-in scheme, customers can return their old electronics products to be valued and exchanged for Best Buy vouchers, which can then be used against newer products.
