A week and a half ago, Microsoft announced the next feature update for the Xbox One, adding more fan-requested features, many of which were slated for the last one, but didn't make it into the final build. Insiders on the Preview Alpha ring have been testing it out ever since, but tonight, Beta ring users will get their first build of the new update.
The version number is 1705, which means that it's expected to be finalized in May, 2017. It follows 1704, and before that, the Creators Update was 1703. It would seem that the Xbox team is currently on a path for monthly updates, or at least that's the trend.
Here are some of the features that are expected to arrive in version 1705:
Share your Looking for Group post on the Activity Feed or through a message.
Unfollow a Club or Game Hub directly from your Activity Feed.
Your profile will display your Arena tournament history and upcoming tournaments.
For Beam and Twitch broadcasts, you will now have an option in the Guide for your Kinect to locate you automatically.
Captive Portal support for wireless internet is coming to Xbox One, which allows for Wi-Fi authentication through a browser. Great for colleges, hotels, or public Wi-Fi locations.
Filter posts on your Activity Feed on the Xbox app for iOS and Android.
On the Xbox app for Windows 10, we’re adding the option to select the audio input and output sources for Party chat.
The build number that will be rolling out tonight is 15063.3033, and it was released to the Alpha ring last night. There is one known issue:
- Home
Certain content is sometimes missing when Home loads.
On top of that, the company confirmed that Beta ring Insiders will likely get custom Gamerpics on Monday. It's not likely that the feature will require the installation of a new build, as it didn't for Alpha ring users.
Build 15063.3033 will roll out to the Preview Beta ring at 6:00pm Pacific Time tonight.
