The Bing Health & Fitness app for Windows Phone has been updated to utilize the new pedometer sensor present in the Nokia Lumia 630 and 635 smartphones.
Nokia announced the Lumia 630 and 635 smartphones with Windows Phone 8.1 at the BUILD 2014 conference. The smartphones are one of the first to include the Nokia SensorCore technology for tracking user activity using the pedometer without draining the battery. At the launch, Nokia mentioned that the Bing Health and Fitness app will be updated following the launch of the devices to utilize the new pedometer functionality and Microsoft has finally released the promised update.
Using the SensorCore technology, the phone can identify and continuously count all the steps taken by the user in a day, calculate the calories burned and distance traveled. A detailed analysis of activity for different time frames can then be obtained making it an ideal fitness tracker. To complement this fitness tracker, the Bing Health & Fitness app will provide diet, workout and medical recommendations based on the user's performance.
The Lumia 630 has already gone on sale in India, Brazil and the UK and users will be eager to make use of its fitness tracking ability making this a must-have app for fitness buffs.
