As promised by Bloober Team, survival horror title Blair Witch which is based on the cult classic movie franchise of the same name is making its way to Nintendo's Switch platform. The video game developer announced the arrival of the horror game on the handheld console back in mid-March. At that time, a summer 2020 release was planned.
Today, a final release date of June 25 has been revealed, along with a new game trailer to mark the Nintendo Switch release as seen below.
A summary of the game's storyline found on Nintendo's official website reads:
"Inspired by the cinematic lore of Blair Witch, experience a new story-driven psychological horror game that studies your reactions to fear and stress.
Your darkest fears will awaken in these woods.
It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods…"
Blair Witch was first announced back at E3 2019 for Microsoft's Xbox One console and PC via Steam, making its debut on August 30, 2019. A PlayStation 4 release of the title came a few months later on December 3.
Priced at $29.99 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and $10.49 on Steam, it is expected that the Switch version will also set back customers $29.99. The price tag will be confirmed once Nintendo updates the Switch eShop with the latest information, which should be pretty soon considering today's announcement.
