Borderlands save files to unlock Borderlands 2 content

Fans of the original Borderlands are anxiously awaiting the sequel, Borderlands 2. But if you still have a copy of your game stored on your PC and/or you still have kept your save files from the game on your hard drive, you may be glad you kept them from being deleted.

In a post on the game's official Facebook page, developer Gearbox Software announced, "Borderlands 2 will reward veterans of the first Borderlands with exclusive character customization elements ..." You can check out the exclusive character heads and skins you can get from your original Borderlands save files in the image below.

Admittedly, having some extra heads and skins isn't much of a bonus for your save game files, but at least Gearbox knows there are a lot of fans of the original FPS-RPG hybrid game and wanted to reward them with something a little extra for their loyalty.

Borderlands 2 is scheduled for its release for the PC and other platforms on September 18th. Gearbox has already announced plans to release some special edition versions of the game, including the Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition. Priced at $149.99, it contains a ton of extra real world and in-game exclusive content.
