BritBox, a subscription video streaming service which includes shows from BBC, ITV, and more, has finally launched in the UK. The service is available to customers for £5.99 per month and that includes HD streaming and access across multiple devices. While the service will contain many classic shows from TV, it will also feature some original content.
While BBC and ITV are the main backers of the project, Channel 4 and Channel 5 will also be bringing content to the platform. In the announcement, ITV said a multi-year deal had been struck with Channel 4 and Film4 which will see more than 1,000 hours of content arrive in 2020. ITV also said that a partnership with BT and EE was agreed upon with the latter becoming the platform’s exclusive mobile partner. Both BT and EE will launch offers for customers that include BritBox access.

Some of the shows you can expect to find on the platform include Downton Abbey, Broadchurch, Only Fools and Horses, Gavin & Stacey, Miss Marple, Poirot, Love Island, The Great British Bake Off, Les Miserables, The Split, The Office, Happy Valley, Doctor Foster, classic Doctor Who episodes broadcast between 1963 and 1989, a selection of classic films, first access to two new Midsomer Murders episodes, and BritBox’s first exclusive drama, Lambs of God.
