It was only a few weeks ago when Call of Duty: Warzone arrived as a free-to-play battle royale to the masses, making use of last year's Modern Warfare as a base. And now, Activision is delivering a piece of Call of Duty history with a fresh coat of paint, as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is landing tomorrow.
An official announcement hasn't arrived out of Activision for this lavishly named experience just yet, but following multiple leaks and datamined material regarding the remaster, the German PlayStation store has put up the title's page up a little early, revealing many of its details and the release date.
It looks like the game will be purchasable for $24.99, and as evident by its name, it will only carry the campaign portion, bringing improvements to textures, animations, rendering, HDR support, and more as part of the remaster process.
As for the multiplayer, the latest leaks say Activision has opted to not split up the Call of Duty playerbase between the new Modern Warfare and this. Instead, many maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 will be coming to the new release with remastered graphics. Those who purchase the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remaster will receive cosmetic items as bonuses for both Modern Warfare multiplayer and Warzone as well.
If Activision follows through with the leaked March 31 release date, this will be the second Call of Duty title to get the remaster treatment following the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare remaster that got bundled with Infinite Warfare.
