A fully fledged single-player campaign was confirmed for Gwent when the Witcher series spin-off title was announced last year. Today, CD Projekt RED spilled some more information regarding the campaign, that will be titled, Gwent: Thronebreaker, and even pushed out a brand new teaser trailer, seen above.
Leaving behind Geralt from the Witcher series, the Gwent campaign will feature a new protagonist named Meve, "a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms". Describing her motivations, the developer added, "Facing an imminent foreign invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge."
The campaign will have players exploring various lands set in the Witcher universe that have not been seen in previous works by the developer. The story mode will arrive with its own quests to complete, resources to gather, as well as plenty of battles to tackle, which we assume, will be fought inside Gwent rounds.
Some gameplay footage taken from the official Gwent website is seen above, giving us a glimpse at how the game will portray the world of Witcher in its own way.
Gwent: Thronebreaker campaign is slated for launch later this year on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game's multiplayer portion is currently in open beta, available for download on the same platforms mentioned above, and even features cross-platform play between them.
