As news of the demise of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman spread, social media platforms were flooded with responses from fans and other fellow celebrities alike. Boseman, who was fighting a tough battle with colon cancer for several years, passed away on August 28. On his behalf, a message was posted on Twitter to inform his followers of his tragic passing.
Since the Tweet announcing Boseman's demise was first posted on Twitter, the post has gained an overwhelming amount of responses and messages from his beloved fans from around the globe. Twitter has confirmed that at (as of posting) 7.1 million likes, the message has officially become the most liked Tweet on the history of the social media platform.

The social network also left a small yet powerful note paying respect to the late actor, honouring him as a king off-screen, in the likeness of the king that he played on-screen as well. Fellow Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo also left a message paying tribute to his dear friend, stating that it was 'the highest honor getting to work with [him] and getting to know [him]. What a generous and sincere human being.'
Aside from this, some of the other most liked Tweets have been posted by other popular celebrities and political figures. Following the message posted on Boseman's Twitter handle, the next two most liked Tweets are by former US president Barack Obama, followed by actor and comedian Andy Milonakis and former child star Macaulay Culkin respectively.
