Yesterday, Qualcomm officially announced the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, but today's keynote was the deep dive. Afterward, the firm had demo areas set up where the media could check out some of the latest and greatest features.
I say some because the features that I was most interested in weren't ready yet. Mainly, that includes portrait mode video capture in 4K 60fps. Unfortunately, we're going to have to wait until CES for that one. The company did show off 4K HDR video recording, but not with HDR10+.
My favorite demo was the one that showed off Qualcomm's noise-canceling technology. The firm refers to voice assistants in this, but the use cases are much more diverse than that. It can apply to calls, recordings, and more. Moreover, the feature works with all third-party apps, so it's not like one app will support it while another one won't.
Another demo showed power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 845. There are two use cases shown, one with Instagram and one with gaming, presumably to show both ends of the spectrum.
Google was there, showing off Google Lens among other things. Qualcomm also showed off a demo of a game streaming wirelessly with Wi-Fi 6. Check out some clips from the demos below:
