British publisher Codemasters has announced the appointment of a new chief executive, with current managing director Nick Wheelwright stepping up to the new role at the privately held company.
Wheelwright has been with Codemasters since 1993, having originally joined the company as finance director, and was promoted to the role of managing director in 1996 - going on to lead the firm through its expansion into a $100 million business.
In his new role, Wheelwright will be responsible for implementing the firm's strategic goals - and will also head up the product planning group, which green-lights new products and extensions to existing franchises.
"Nick plays an integral part in Codemasters' success and I'm delighted to have him as chief executive," according to Codemasters chairman David Darling. "His management and market understanding are valuable assets as we work towards some of our most successful years in the global marketplace."
