Comcast announced today that its streaming service, Peacock, will be available on Apple devices beginning on July 15 when it hits a national release. The company already previewed the service last month for Xfinity X1 and Flex customers.
This marks the first expansion of the platform beyond Comcast's ecosystem. It will be incorporated into the Apple TV app, meaning content from the service will be available for viewing via a wide variety of Apple devices including the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV 4K, and Apple TV HD. Users can look for Peacock content in the Watch Now section and explore more shows with Up Next. Also, the platform supports voice control through Siri.
Regarding Peacock's upcoming availability on Apple devices, Matt Bond, Chairman for Content Distribution at NBCUniversal, said:
"Our priority is to bring Peacock’s unrivaled collection of content to people across major distributors and device platforms. We look forward to bringing Peacock to Apple customers when we launch around the U.S. in July, capitalizing on Apple’s incredible reach and connecting with millions of viewers across their devices."
The ad-supported service offers a free tier with access to more than 7,500 hours of movies and shows from NBC and Telemundo as well as blockbuster movies like the Jurassic Park franchise, Meet the Parents, and Shrek. Shows such as Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and Saturday Night Live will also be onboard.
If you want to watch more content, there's a premium tier that doubles the content to 15,000 hours for $4.99 per month. Also, you can choose to remove ads for an uninterrupted viewing experience by paying an extra $5 per month.
