Coolpad is probably a company you haven't heard of but the firm holds quite a sizeable business in China and has been around for a little over two decades. We have seen affordable budget handsets make their way to the United States, like the Coolpad Defiant, and now the firm is debuting its latest smartphone, the Cool 2.
The Cool 2 features a sleek design with its metal exterior and has a 5.7-inch 720p IPS 18: 9 LCD display with curved edges that meld the screen into the body of the phone. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 processor, 4GB RAM, and has 64GB of internal storage. If that isn't enough storage, you can always make use of the microSD expansion slot. As far as its battery, the phone harnesses a 3,200mAh unit and also has a Micro USB port. What comes as a bit of a surprise is that it will arrive running Android 7.0 Nougat, whereas most phones being released are at least arriving with Android 7.1 or some even Android 8.0.
The Cool 2 has a dual rear camera setup with 13MP and 0.3MP sensors. The front-facing camera is 8MP and can make alterations to one's face courtesy of its AI system. Perhaps the most surprising feature is that this unit will offer an IPX4 rating, which means it can handle some light water spray.
Coolpad did not give any information in regards to pricing or when it will be available, but you can most likely guess that this will be exclusive to China.
