Craigslist has been under heavy pressure to remove their illegal sexual activities ad section from their web site, better known as "Erotic Ad" section on the web site, to remove the service. The service came to light by many law enforcement units after a masseuse was murdered in Boston in April by a medical student who replied to the advertisement.
The service will be fully removed, but any current postings will expire in 7 days, where after 7 days the section will be removed completely. The new "Adult Services" section will be enabled where users can post ads that will only be accepted after workers who review the post. A charge of $10 will be applied for each new advertisement and renewing adverts can be posted again for $5.
Once stories have been posted in the new "Adult Services" section, users can not edit or modify their advertisement in anyway.
No plans have been made as to where the current revenue from the "Adult Services" section goes, where in the past, 100% of the net revenue from the "Erotic Services" section went towards charity.
