Speaking to CVG exclusively, an industry insider has confirmed the existence of Call of Duty 7, as well as a few key facts.
Set during the Vietnam War, the game is influenced by films such as Apocalypse Now and Platoon. To what extent is unclear, though it's safe to say that Activision won't be too keen on Treyarch moving away from the formula that has made the previous instalments such a success. One of Modern Warfare 2's main criticisms, in fact, was a lack of innovation, so clearly Activision isn't afraid to stick to what it knows.
Less surprising is the news that the game will be released in November - "just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2" - in an attempt to cash in on the Christmas season. With Modern Warfare 2 setting the record as the biggest entertainment launch in history, it's hardly surprising. But is the predictable yearly release of Call of Duty getting dull?
