Dell today announced a refreshed Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 series, including a Black Edition. The Black Edition comes in, you guessed it, black, and it has a pen garage (the standard Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 doesn't have a pen garage and it's silver).
The firm seems to have put a lot of work into the hinge, which is where the pen garage is located. The hinge rotates in a way so that the pen is always accessible. The hinge is also where hot air is vented through. Dell pointed out that there was a lot of engineering that went into the new hinge, and it's "in the process of being patented".
Coming in 13- and 15-inch models, there's a new Adaptive Thermal technology that can tell how the device is being used, and it adjusts the power profile accordingly. For example, you'll get different power profiles when it's being used on a desk versus when it's being used on the go or on your lap.
There's a new power button that includes a fingerprint reader, and the device has USB Type-C charging. Dell hasn't provided a spec sheet just yet, but it presumably comes with Intel's Whiskey Lake processors.
The Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 and Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 will be available in June or July, and Dell hasn't confirmed pricing yet.
