CyberTAN is one of the largest SOHO networking manufacturers in Taiwan. Chih-Kan Wang, vice president of the company's Digital Home and Advanced Technology Center, shared his thoughts on the company's status and future business prospects with DigiTimes. The company currently has four business units, including two older units that made up the company's original core. These comprise the router business unit, which produces broadband routers, access points and other CPE (customer premise equipment) items, and the wireless client unit, producing PCMCIA cards, mini-PCI cards and USB dongles.
CyberTAN has since created two new units: the Digital Home unit, which so far has been producing wireless modules for digital television and wireless DVD players but will soon add several more products to the line-up, and the Telecom unit, which produces ADSL routers, IADs (integrated access devices) and VoIP devices. CyberTAN's primary focus is on the SOHO market, said Wang.
Wang also explained that CyberTAN is having difficulty filling positions in its research and development departments since the company is continuously expanding its requirements for all these four areas.
