This morning, game journalists' inboxes were jam-packed with press releases from most major game retailers about Sunday's launch of the Nintendo DS. All hyped their various launch events for the dual-screen portable, most prominently (judging by the number of e-mails) EB Games' midnight madness sale at its new "flagship store" in Los Angeles.
However, it appears several stores are already placing the DS into excited Nintendophiles' sweaty hands. Reports (and pictures) began to surface today that a few Best Buy outlets in Arizona sold several units, presumably by mistake. Unconfirmed reports have also come in stating that DSes were purchased at large, nongame-focused retail chains such as Circuit City, Toys "R" Us, and Wal-Mart, which usually get larger shipments in advance.
Regardless, as of Sunday, November 21, anyone can buy the Nintendo DS--provided you can find one. Numerous reports say that DS games that have already shipped-- Feel the Magic: XY/XX, Spider-Man 2, The Urbz: Sims in the City, Asphalt Urban GT, and Madden NFL 2005--have already been selling out at game retailers nationwide.
