Retailer points to 18 March 2005 as being D-Day - for both Nintendo and Sony's new handhelds
Current industry rumours suggest that both Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP have been earmarked for an 18 March 2005 release in the UK.
The date certainly makes sense as it's the Friday a week before Easter - traditionally, the most important period for sales in the games market, apart from Christmas. As it seems neither machine will be available for a Christmas launch, it's the obvious time to put them in the shops.
Although the demographic of buyers is expected to be largely under-18 for DS and over-18 for PSP, it's unlikely that this will make much difference to Nintendo and Sony wanting to avoid launching on the same day. Besides, we're not overly convinced at the accuracy of the predicted demographic differences between the two machines.
