EA cuts workforce

As reported by various websites, Electronic Arts has notified around 350 of their employees (about 5% of their employees) that they will be no longer needed at the company due to EA being in a "transition" phase.

According to GameSpot, an EA representative mentioned that the reason behind the layoffs being done are "so we have the most efficient alignment for all of our strategic priorities...it doesn't have to do with any one [game]."

Maybe they are right, and it has to do with two games? There are various opinions about the EA layoffs, with some saying it is due to both The Godfather (Coming March 21st) and Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II (Coming March 28th) being completed or very near completion, or that the next-generation console transition is causing a lackluster sales quarter, with the Xbox 360 stock not helping anything.
